Reliance BharatNet – High-Speed Wireless Internet Service for Rural India

  • Reliance communications has launched new BharatNet Plan for rural India.It is a high-speed wireless Internet service, will cover over 20,000 rural locations,and is RCom’s strategy to drive rural Internet penetration.

    BharatNet will be offered at Rs.98/Week. “Driving Internet penetration across the country beyond major cities is a key priority for us,” said RCom president Mahesh Prasad.This tariff will be available across rural India excluding the metros and top 100 cities.

    The new BharatNet service will be like the Reliance NetConnect service, but specifically designed for the rural and sub-urban markets offering speeds of approximately 153 Kbps, which is lot faster than the current dial-up speed of the wired-line services.
